Making your life easier in the AM!

dressy blouse, pencil skirt, clutch, high heels

Hi everyone!

Hope this blog finds you well. Now, I am definitely not a morning person, I really never was. With that being said, getting ready in the morning could possibly be one of the hardest things I have to do. Ill be honest, there are days where I could not give a shit, I just can’t be bothered. But the days where I have meetings, interviews, so on and so fourth – I really have to step up my A game.

No one wants to slap on a pound of make up in the morning or curl their hair and wait patiently for each curl to be perfect. With that being said, I have come up with a few ideas that could definitely help you during  your morning routine… not only to make you look even more fabulous than you already do but to also do it in such little time!

  1. Shower and blow dry your hair the night before.
  2. If you want to change up your usual hair, tie it up into a sleek pony tail or a side braid!
  3. Use BB cream instead of a full coverage foundation. Not only does this BB cream hydrate your skin, it adds awesome coverage to your skin without being too heavy. – I recommend Smash Box BB Cream OR if you are looking for a cheaper route, try Maybelline BB Cream.
  4. Red lips! Red lips add fab and glamor to ANY outfit. Grab the most vibrant red lip you have and put it on. Red lipstick also makes it seem like you spent forever getting ready in the morning…little does everyone know!
  5. Use your best mascara to quickly give your lashes a boost! I recommend zoom lash by Mac (Kim K uses it of course), or if you are looking for a cheaper route, try Maybelline’s cover lash blast!
  6. And lastly, have your clothes ready to go from the night before! Your undergarments, socks, pantyhose, shoes and your outfit! It makes a world of a difference

A little preparation goes a long way! Good luck my 9-5 girls 😉

The Boot of the season – Combat Boots

Boots

autumn, you’re lookin’ good.

I know a lot of people who say “I can’t rock combat boots”. OF COURSE you can – you really never know until you try. Combat boots are my new favorite go-to! They add a rugged trendy look to any of your outfits. Not only are combat boots the latest fashionable trend, they are SUPER comfy! Trust me when I say I have issues walking everywhere, my feet hurt, I get blisters, my flats wear out etc. etc., I could come up with excuses forever! However, combat boots are the ultimate comfiest boots I have ever worn… I could literally run a marathon in them. Okay not really but you get the point. I have 3 pairs right now that I love.

The first pair are Madden Girl Zorrba Combat Boots that come in brown. You can fold them over so the inside material of the shoe shows. Pretty fashionable and trendy! I got these from DSW in the States however they do sell them in Canada. These Madden Girl Combat Boots are awesome because they can be simple and brown but can also add a trendy touch with the tribal print pattern on the inside.

The second pair are are Steve Madden Troopa Combat Boots that come in black! Oh my God, can I just say I love these guys?! I’ve had them for a couple of years now, and although they are a little worn out, I just keep polishing them and fixing them up. Never getting rid of these bad boys! If you are someone with big calves, these are the boots for you. They aren’t high enough to go up your calves but aren’t low enough to be ankle boots either – they sit right in the middle and are super easy to zip up. These boots come with a very small heel which is awesome because they aren’t completely flat and offer a sturdy support for your feet!

The last pair are the same Steve Madden Troopa Combat Boots as above but in brown! Awesome features to this boot. They are also designed to have that “faded” look, so they look a little vintage! I’m not completely sure but I think these boots are dyed so some parts of my boot are really faded from hitting it against something. I don’t mind though, either way they look vintage and trendy!

I never realized until right now that the only combat boots I have are Steve Madden boots…well they are affordable, comfortable and fashionable! What brand are you rocking? Any thoughts on Steve Madden Combat Boots? YAY or NAY? Check out my friend Hafsa’s last post on Fall Must Haves here in the link below! Guess I’m not the only one who loves combat boots!

Roasted Chicken & Potatoes

Right out of the oven

Final Picture

Hi friends!

It’s that time to share a recipe! A lot of my recipe’s come from Laura Vitale, I have mentioned her in my blog before. She is an excellent chef and her YouTube videos are fabulous! Although I changed up this particular recipe just a tad, it is still almost the same as Laura’s. I’ve been making this since I moved in with my husband and I have to say it is quite healthy… in addition, it is delicious, affordable and very filling! Look below for the recipe and enjoy the pictures!

Step 1 – Pre heat your oven to 425 degrees. Clean your chicken (do not take off the skin, it’s the best part!)
Step 2 – Marinate your chicken. In a bowl, add your cleaned chicken, teaspoon of salt, a teaspoon of pepper, table spoon of rosemary and a table spoon of thyme. (You can alternate the measurements depending on what you like) Laura’s recipe states that using fresh herbs tastes the best, I have only been using what I have on hand but it still tastes JUST as amazing.
Step 3 – In the marinate, also add a zest of one small lemon, and squeeze out the lemon into the bowl (make sure you catch the seeds). Also add a little bit of olive oil.
Step 4 – As your marinate sits, start cutting your potatoes. I used Yukon yellow potatoes because the skin is thin and I don’t have to peel the skin. Throw the potatoes into an oiled dish and add in your marinated chicken.
Step 5 – Add in 6 garlic cloves (unpeeled) into the dish as well as the lemon you squeezed out.
Step 6 – Throw the dish into your oven for exactly one hour at 425 degrees. Take it out, let it cool and serve straight from the dish!

What you may be wondering:

1. Why do you leave the peel on the garlic cloves? Well, since the oven is at a very high temperature you don’t want your garlic to burn… that would completely ruin the taste!
2. How long do you marinate your chicken for? You can do the marinating process the night before or even a week before, defrost it and put it in the oven if you like. I just leave my marinate out for 20-30 minutes as I’m cutting my potatoes and cleaning up the kitchen.
3. Can you provide exact measurements? I can’t, I really just guess and throw spices in the mix. Do what you think is best! If you like more pepper, add more pepper. If you don’t like thyme – don’t add thyme.. Maybe try Parsley, Dill, Oregon?
4. Can you use other types of potatoes? Of course you can, use whatever you have at home!

I served my chicken and potatoes with buttered rice and a nice spring mix! You can serve yours with anything, for example) Soup, yellow rice, pasta salad etc.

Try the recipe and leave your comments! Did you make different variations? Let me know!

Ps- Sorry about the un professional pictures, I have to pull out the Nikon next time!

Because in reality, you only live once!

Oh my God, so I’ve been thinking of all of these creative ideas for a blog post but I haven’t come around to actually sitting down, with coffee to write one! I posted a status a few weeks ago regarding beauty, weight, the media etc.

“I never understand why some people suffer from body issues/beauty. Everyone is beautiful in their own way, do not compare yourself to magazines which depict photo shopped images of models. Be comfortable in your own skin. #randomrant

I guess this comes from somewhere.  I’m a full figured girl, I’ve always been, I have never been that tooth pick skinny girl and yes there are some days where it bothers me but there are MOST days where I walk out of the house with confidence and am happy with my own skin. Coming from a culture that portrays fair skin and skinny girls to be the best is of course is not easy, especially when the food consists of oily chicken/beef and lots of carbs – pretty contradicting isnt it?! And it doesn’t help that the media is filled with photo shopped images of models, celebrities who look amazing and even friends who constantly talk about only eating chickpeas all day (you know who you are) – Side note: how is that even healthy!? #annoying

Anyway sometimes, you really have to ignore the photo shopped images around you, the crazy aunties who have no filter and enjoy your life because in reality, you only live once!

This weeks challenge is to do something opposite of what you are used to. For instance, walk outside without make up on, trust me… it opens a lot of doors to positive reinforcement.

& that’s it for this post, have a great weekend! xo
