Strobing is the new contouring?

Edited3

Is it though?

Isn’t strobing just a technique we all use when we’re lazy in the mornings?

If you have been on social media for the past 2 weeks, you’ll know that strobing is all the rage right now. Strobing (aka highlighting) focuses exclusively on just highlighter and illuminators as oppose to contouring that helps you define and structure your face using darker shades. Strobing focuses exactly on where the light would hit your face – in this case, it can be the highest points of your cheekbones, your nose, your temples, your cupid’s bow and even your collar bones. Although this look makes one look more angelic, radiating and glowy, I still do prefer contouring (even with the summer heat, when I have time of course).

Regardless, I had to make a video to show my subscribers what strobing is and how you can achieve it. Please see above for the video and below for a product list of what I have used.

Product List:

– True Match Concealer and Illuminator
– Nars, Copacabana Illuminator
– NYX, Illuminator in Gleam
– Becca Highlighter in Opal
– Bobbi Brown, Illuminating Treatment Foundation
– Mac, Mineralize Skin Finish

How to: Contour, Highlight & Conceal | Kat Von D: Shade Light Palette

Hey hey heeyyy,

Since about last year, the hype of contouring has gone up a few million notches! Although the concept has been used for many years by professional makeup artists, many cosmetic brands have been making contour kits as apart of their branding technique. We started with Anastasia, then we had Makeup Forever (and many others in between) and now we have Kat Von D’s, Shade Light Palette.

Each contour kit has about 6 shades, some have 2-4. There are lighter shades to emphasis the highlighted areas and carve out your contour and there are darker shades to create the illusion of a slimmer face, cheekbones, and even creating abs or cleavage.

In today’s video, I’ve used the Shade Light Palette by Kat Von D to emphasize and carve out my features. For a list of the products, see below:

1. Bobbi Brown – Illuminating Treatment Foundation

2. Nars – Radiant Concealer in Vanilla

3. Kat Von D – The Shade Light Palette

4. Nars – Translucent Powder

5. Banana Powder

6. Nars – Albatross Highlighter

Remember to use a sponge or a beauty blender to blend everything together, if you do not have either, try a stippling brush and very lightly blend everything together in circular motions.

I hope this helped everyone who needs help with contouring!
Thanks for stopping by and please subscribe to my channel if you like what you see.

Trip to Florida + My Collective Beauty Haul!

6A few weeks ago, I decided I needed a little mini vacay and went to Florida to visit my cousins. Normally, our mini vacations are very hectic because we’re attempting to fit so many activities within a few days. This time, we decided to take it really easy and just relax for the 1 week that I was there. We basically ate a lot of food, watched movies and of course … shopped!

Now, the shopping in America is way better then Canada (as I am sure you all know). Every single time I go to Florida, I tend to buy an extra suitcase to fit in all of my shopping. Last December, we bought a lot of things for our new home – pillows, throws, candles etc. This time, I focused mostly on cosmetics and beauty products. I went to Ulta, Sephora, TJ Maxx, Walgreens and CVS where I found the most affordable and nicest blushes, lipsticks and even eyelashes. With that being said, I obviously had to make a new haul video about it!

In addition, I’ve posted some pictures of my trip down below. Enjoy!

Purple Smokey Eye Tutorial

Hi dolls!
I hope everyone is doing well on this beautiful Wednesday! It seems that I am always writing blogs on Wednesdays… mid-way through the week – WHY NOT!?

This past weekend I uploaded a new look on my YouTube channel – a beautiful purple and black smokey eye. Now I know this look is extremely dramatic and most of you are going to say “that’s so much make up!” – well no one is asking you to wear it on a daily basis, LOL. I wore this look to a wedding, matched with a black lace sari. Wearing simple colors like black, beige and white will make a look like this pop! I also kept my hair very simple and just lightly curled.
Keep in mind that you can do this with any color you like – you don’t have to use the purple that I did – I just thought it was beautiful! I hope you guys try this look and let me know how it goes; I also hope that you enjoy the video! See below for the product list.

Evening Bollywood Makeup Tutorial

photo 3 copy

Hi Everyone!!

Over the weekend, it was my friends Gaye Holud.. and can I just add that she looked like Princess Jasmine!? Absolutely gorgeous!! For her holud, I decided to wear a pink & purple coloured shalwar kameez and with that, I filmed a brand new make up tutorial!

I kept the colors pretty subtle on my face because I didn’t want to look like a clown, especially considering that my outfit was already so bright and colorful. I started with basic foundation and then moved onto my eyes. The eyeshadow was pretty subtle but my lashes made the look a little more glamorous! (Unfortunately I had translucent powder on one of my eyes throughout the whole video and only noticed when I watched it at the end) – it’s all good though, no shame here!

At the end of my look, I decided to try my new purple lipstick from NYX called Pandora. Unfortunately the colour was a little too dark for me so I decided to put on my favourite bright pink lipstick and was fully satisfied with the look =]

See below for a list of all the products used:

EOS Lip Balm
Monistat Chafing Gel (Primer)
Make Up Forever HD Foundation (153)
Kevyn Aucoin Skin Enhancer (04)
Loreal Gel Eyeliner
Covergirl lash blast
NYX Eyebrow Pencil (EP04)
Nars Translucent Crystal Powder
Mac Prep and Prime
Beauty Blender
Becca Highlighter
Nars Laguna Bronzer
Naked Palette – Toasted
Lorac Pro Palette – Pearl
Princess Jasmine Palette – Ali ababwa
Nyx Lip Primer
Nyx Eyeshadow – Deep Bronze
Loreal – Kohl Eyeliner

Please let me know if I have missed any of the products listed above! Looking forward to making more makeup tutorials!
